About the Watch
The Omega Speedmaster Chronograph was first launched in 1957. Characteristics of the mechanical wristwatch at that time were the black dial, the tachymeter scale on the case, the luminous hands, a screwed back and cambered plexiglass. The Speedmaster was marketed as a watch designed for science, industry, and sports. With the tachymeter for speed measurement it quickly became popular in car racing. A few years after its introduction, the Omega Speedmaster was tested with other watches by NASA in search of a suitable watch for the 1962 moon mission and became the first watch on the moon as a legend thanks to unbreakable Plexiglas, strong resistance and manual winding. Therefore, it is also called Moonwatch today. With its timeless design, the Speedmaster is still one of the most popular watches. It now has a diameter of 42mm and a lug width for straps with 20mm width.
The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch has a great style that reminds of the legendary model from 1957, both with our Skog-Brown Vintage strap made of matt leather and with the Espresso-Brown leather strap. A grey watch strap, such as the Stormig-Grey Nato strap, matches the silver-black design of the watch exceptionally.
