Proper care for suede bracelets

Suede or velour leather is usually more sensitive than smooth leather, so you will learn from us how to care for your Suede watch strap protects against dirt and wear for longer.

Whether it's a watch strap, shoes, or belt, a suede accessory has a particularly high-quality feel and feels exceptionally soft against the skin. However, light-colored suede is particularly susceptible to external influences, such as dirt particles and liquids. Therefore, it makes perfect sense to treat the surface of the strap or accessory with a suitable waterproofing spray before wearing it for the first time. This not only repels liquids, but also creates an invisible protective barrier against other contaminants.

When using a waterproofing spray for suede, you should pay attention to the following points:

  • It should be transparent so that the spray is suitable for all colors
  • The spray should be aimed at suede so that the rough surface does not stick

The impregnation can be repeated as often as required, as no protective layer lasts forever.

Care for suede watch straps if the watch strap has been damaged

Whether it's a lively celebration or a trip into nature, the suede can quickly be exposed to a little more stress and may even become slightly dull or lose color intensity.

In such cases, the best way to lightly roughen the surface of the strap is with a soft suede brush. Such brushes are used, for example, for cleaning suede shoes. With great care, you can also use a conventional, soft brush to gently roughen the suede. This usually helps remove dried-on dirt particles from the leather.

For more stubborn stains, a leather cleaner that's either specifically designed for suede or suitable for all types of leather can help. These cleaners are usually designed for shoes, but can of course also be used on your watch strap. Some even come with a brush to work the cleaning fluid into the leather while roughening it. We recommend removing the strap from your watch before cleaning it. It's also a good idea to test the cleaning agent for colorfastness on a small area of the inside of the strap.

Unless otherwise recommended, you can gently wipe out the cleaning agent with a damp cloth afterward. This minimizes the risk of water marks forming. Once most of the leather cleaner has been removed and the suede is dry, you should definitely re-waterproof the strap. We recommend gently abrading the surface beforehand for even better results.

A fresh stain on the suede and you need to get it out quickly without a special cleaner?

You've probably heard it before: fresh stains are most effectively treated immediately, without giving them time to soak in and dry. Since the right leather cleaner is often not readily available in such exceptional cases, we've put together a few well-known tips that will help you quickly and easily combat the new stain on your bracelet.

  • Dry shampoo absorbs grease excellently and is, in most cases, color-neutral. After spraying the stain, the dry shampoo can be easily and gently brushed out.
  • Sprinkle baby powder or potato flour on the grease stain and let it work for a while. Then, gently brush off the flour or flour.
  • So-called dirt erasers also help to remove dried stains from suede.
