About the Rolex GMT Master Pepsi

As the first Rolex Oyster Perpetual to display two time zones simultaneously, the GMT Master was first delivered in 1954. The development of the first watch was based on a request from the management of Pan American Airlines in 1953. The airline was originally looking for a watch for its pilots that would display both the local time at the place of arrival and that of the place of departure simultaneously. Based on the basic ideas of Hans Wilsdorf, the first watch was developed a year later, which is almost identical in design to this day. The second time zone is indicated by an additional hour hand. Back then, you could set the time zone in conjunction with the bezel. The first models of the watch were delivered with a plastic bezel to avoid reflections in the cockpit. However, the material did not withstand the high loads in the cockpit and was quickly substituted with a steel bezel. Today, therefore, the first and particularly rare models are very popular with collectors. At that time, the Pan American Airline chose the GMT Master as its official watch and equipped the ground staff with the white dial variant and the flight crew with black dial watches. With today's GMT Master II, the second time zone can also be read via the additional hour hand, which can now be adjusted separately via the crown. The case diameter is 40mm with a lug width of 20mm. You can find more information about the new one here Steel variant of the GMT Master II.

The legendary Pepsi design of the steel GMT Master II case goes well with a blue or red-brown leather strap, like that Vild Brown Nato Strap combine. The black dial also goes perfectly with the Fin Black watch strap in black, which gives the almost unchanged design from 1954 an elegant vintage style.
