About the IWC Portuguese
The legendary IWC Portuguese Chronograph is said to have been created in the late 1930s. After IWC Schaffhausen the first so-called Special watch for aviators brought to the market in 1936, the company dedicated itself to the Portuguese. Here the Portuguese importers Teixeira and Rodriguez are said to have given the company management the impetus that their customers wanted a large and precise men's wristwatch with a steel case. In principle, a simple customer request that is still widely found today. IWC's engineers took a flat, hand-wound mechanical movement from the company's pocket watch range and placed it in a classic steel case. With the silver-colored, simple dial and small seconds display, the Portugiese quickly became a bestseller in both Western and Eastern Europe. The IWC Portugieser Chronograph still has timeless design elements of the original wristwatch today, such as the large, simple stainless steel case and the hands. The diameter is 41 mm and the watch has a lug width of 20 mm.
A beige or cream-colored watch strap, like this one, goes particularly well with the gold-colored indices on the dial Sand beige suede strap. This, for example, offers a great highlight with a vintage character Choklat gray leather strap with pin buckle on the Portuguese made of stainless steel. Whether IWC Portuguese automatic or chronograph, with the most common strap widths of 18 mm, 20 mm and 22 mm and clasps in silver, red gold, gold or black, you will find the right watch strap for your model.
