about the SEIKO 5 Sports
The SEIKO 5 was developed in Japan in 1963 with an automatic movement. It was launched under the name SEIKO Sportmatic 5 and was the first mechanical watch with a day and date display to come from Japan. Even then, its name hinted at the sporty yet simple design of the watch, which is still considered timelessly elegant today. The number "5" has remained in the name of the mechanical watch since the 1960s. According to SEIKO, it stands for five characteristics that every watch in this series has: an automatic movement, a weekday and date display, a crown at the unusual 4 o'clock position, water resistance and a robust watch suitable for sporting activities. Since then, the look of the watch has been renewed and revised several times, but its popularity does not seem to have suffered in any way. In particular, the SEIKO 5 Sports, which has been around since 1968, is in demand worldwide today. It has been enhanced with a harder watch glass, higher water resistance, luminous indices and a new sporty design with a unidirectional rotating bezel. The current SEIKO 5 Sports models use the 4R36 automatic caliber with a 41-hour power reserve.
There are now 27 different versions of the SEIKO 5 Sports in five styles and different colors. Depending on the color variant, the watch strap can be combined. For example, the high-quality Fir-Green Nato strap in dark green goes perfectly with the wristwatch. The Dyster-Blue Nato Strap also looks great with the popular blue dial style of the SEIKO 5 Sports. If you prefer a more elegant look, you can wear the dark blue leather watch strap Midnight Blue with your watch.
