about the Breitling SuperOcean
According to Breitling, the SuperOcean was developed in 1957 for divers and military operations. Thanks to the appealing design and functionality of this Breitling mechanical wristwatch, it quickly became very popular with watch lovers and hobby divers. The water resistance of the SuperOcean was initially only 200 meters, which was a high standard in the 1950s and 60s. Breitling later developed its diving watch further and launched a variant with a water resistance of 1,500 meters via a helium valve with the Colt SuperOcean in the 90s. The helium valve is used to equalize pressure when ascending from extreme water depths. In the case of very strong overpressure, the light gas helium penetrates into the watch case under water and can generate overpressure inside the watch when you ascend later, which can be safely released again via the valve. In the meantime, the original design of the Breitling SuperOcean from the 1950s has been revived for the anniversary of this diver's watch and introduced as the SuperOcean Heritage with a water resistance of 200 meters. A simple unidirectional rotating bezel and the vintage Milanese bracelet in stainless steel mesh look are distinctive features of the old Breitling SuperOcean.
The timeless style of the SuperOcean from the 1950s can be rounded off perfectly with a simple vintage design of our leather watch straps. The brown-stone leather strap brings real nostalgia in combination with Breitling's diver's watch. The Choklad Gray watch strap made of matt leather also underlines the high-quality look of the SuperOcean. Our dark blue midnight blue leather strap goes well with the model with a blue bezel and dial.
